Editorial policy

Publication is separate from commerce.

This page describes how K-Beauty Atlas decides what to publish and how that judgment is kept independent of anything that earns the site money.

What has to be true before something publishes

  • A product only gets a public detail page once its formula has a checked, sourced ingredient list — unverified candidates stay off the graph rather than shipping with placeholder data.
  • An ingredient interaction only becomes public once a source has been checked for direct relevance to that specific pairing, with a confidence level attached.
  • Guides and concern pages cite the sources they draw on and carry a review date, so a reader can see when a claim was last checked.

The full detail on what “checked” and “sourced” require, and the current coverage against those gates, is on the data policy page.

What does not influence publication

Whether a product has an Amazon affiliate link does not affect whether it is published, how it is described, its position in the graph, or its confidence level. There is no paid placement: no brand or seller can buy a better position, a mention, or removal of a correction. If sponsorship is introduced, sponsored surfaces will be visibly labeled, excluded from normal search and graph ranking, and reviewed by the same standards as everything else.

Reviewing and correcting existing content

Safety-relevant and time-sensitive guidance is reviewed on a roughly 60-day cadence; other evergreen guides on roughly 90 days. Formula changes, discontinued products, and reported errors are corrected outside that cadence as soon as they are verified — see the correction policy. If you spot something that looks wrong, the fastest path is telling us directly.

Authorship and tools

Guides are written and reviewed by the K-Beauty Atlas team, drawing on brand-published ingredient lists, regulatory and dermatological consumer resources, and general cosmetic chemistry references. Software tools, including AI-assisted drafting and data tooling, are used in production, but publication decisions and source checks are made by the team, not generated and shipped unreviewed.
