Hydroxycinnamic acid found in cell walls of plants (oats, brown rice). On its own, a mild antioxidant and UV absorber. Its real power is as a stabilizer and potentiator: combining ferulic acid with vitamin C and vitamin E produces formulations that retain efficacy 8x longer and deliver significantly greater photoprotection. Standard in premium vitamin C serums.

L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C)⚡ Synergistic
In a specific experimental formula containing 15% L-ascorbic acid, 1% alpha-tocopherol, and 0.5% ferulic acid, ferulic acid improved formula stability and photoprotection in a pig-skin model. This is formulation-specific evidence; it does not establish the same result for arbitrary products layered together, and antioxidants do not replace sunscreen.
